Environmental policy statement for LWD Waste Services

LWD Waste Services is know as "The Company that Considers the Environment" and provides a service which helps its customers meet their own environmental responsibilities. LWD pursues an approach to environmental management which is appropriate to the nature, scale and environmental impacts of the business.

LWD recognises that customers are increasingly concerned about the environmental credentials of the businesses they deal with. It is now considered appropriate to publish a formal environmental policy clearly stating the intentions of LWD.

LWD is committed to the prevention of pollution and has a policy of using resources efficiently, benefiting both the environment and business profitability. LWD is committed to continual improvement of its environmental performance, and will comply with all relevant environmental legislation and regulations which affect the company.

LWD will continue to maintain a co-operative and open relationship with the environmental regulatory bodies (principally the Environment Agency).

LWD sill set objectives and targets in environmental management every twelve months and these will be reviewed periodically. The objectives and targets,

and any changes resulting from reviews, will be communicated to all staff at briefing sessions.

LWD will consider the options for implementing a formal Environmental Management System (EMS) in the future, and will monitor ongoing developments likely to make EMS standards more responsive to the needs of smaller firms.

This environmental policy statement has been developed in consultation with an Associate Member of The Institute of Environmental Management and will be reviewed by the proprietor every twelve months. Any changes will be communicated with staff.

The policy statement will be displayed at the Sunnyhills Road site and in company vehicles. It will also be made available to any member of the public requesting it.
